ANDERSEN, Treasurer m REPORT OF THE SOUVENIR COMMITTEE The Bicentennial Committee decided at an early- date that special souvenirs with appropriate design should be obtained for the celebration.
After hearing reports from other towns' commit- tees, it was decided that a plate should be our featured item, and the design should show our long gone Rumney Covered Bridge.
The Souvenir Committee was appointed to take care of the details of the design, and ordering of the plates and other souvenirs.
W...e spent many hours in the library, reading old records, studying old maps, etc. to get the history of our old covered bridge, as it appears on the plates. This was the theme of our Bicentennial, and we carried it through on our souvenirs.
Many more hours were spent looking at samples, choosing and designing our souvenirs. We tried to have something of interest for everyone.
It was expected that all or most of our plates and other souvenirs would be sold during the celebration, but the public was not interested in buying, and total sales of souvenirs August 10-13 amounted to only $332.85.
