The crucial question turned on the opening of the college in the fall. If that were decided on, the curriculum must be adopted now and the professors appointed. Jewett says, in his narrative, that M. Vassar, Jr. , and Swift, and one other member of the Executive Committee argued against the opening with great earnest- 1 In his letter of March 14.
