" The eastern face of the screen, of which more will be said hereafter, remains 90 BEVERLEY MINSTER nearly as it was left by those who built it, but the western front has been less fortunate. The design was of two separate stages, each having twenty-four niches or panels. Those on the lower stage had crocketed pediments, while those on the upper one were surmounted with Tabernacle work, and terminated in an open battlement.
