This machine was the re- sult of many changes, while in many cases it was impossible to strengthen the weak parts owing to the limited space, or the fact that the size of the part was fixed by the original design.
The difficulties encountered in operating this machine at the coal-testing plant soon indicated its weaknesses, and as a result the Kenfrow Co. designed and built two new presses, one of which was installed and is now being operated by the Western Coalette Fuel Co.
