D. , R. N. , of Banff, Scotland. On the paternal side Mr. Hill is of good old United Empire Loyalist stock, his great grandfather AVilliam Hill, in his devotion to the King's cause having forfeited a very considerable property in New England, and accepted exile in the then infant colony of Nova Sctia with his household of sixteen persons, rather than yield his faith in the divine right of his sovereign.
