Generals Gibbs and Kean succeeded, and attempted again to push on their columns to the at- tack, but a still more dreadful fatality met them from the thunders of the American batteries. General Gibbs fell mor- tally, and Greneral Kean desperately wounded, and were borne from the field of action.
