What could it mean, the bell ringer s grandson wondered, shrinking back into the shadow of the doorway?
As he waited, the door of the assembly room opened, and he saw that Mr. Thomas Jefferson held a very long and important looking document in his hand from which he was reading in his strong, clear voice.
