Once receipt of a grant is ensured, DCHS submits a budget amendment to OBPP for review. OBPP sends copies to LFA for review and presentation to the Legislative Finance Committee (LFC). In fiscal 1992, 20 such budget amendments for federal funds of $858,058 were approved in three divisions: 1) $410,013 in Corrections; 2) $281,397 in Mental Health; and 3) $166,648 in C...hemical Dependency. These grants support a variety of department programs, including Chapter I and Adult Basic Education, community corrections, salary for a corrections official on loan to the federal government, mental health data and community support grants, and chemical dependency grants for a halfway house for youth.
The request for LCA is not included in either the LFA current level or the Executive Budget. The executive plans to include 1995 biennium authorization for LCA in the fiscal 1993 budget amendment bill.
