The Chief Inspector shall, within ten (10) days after his appointment, file his acceptance with the Secretary of State, and at the same time he shall file with said Secretary his bond, with two or more sufficient sure- ties, to be approved by said Secretary, conditioned for the faithful dis- charge of his official duties, in the penal sum of twenty-five hundred (2, 500) dollars. And thereupon the Secretary of State shall issue to him his commission. The first appointee to the office of Chief In...spector shall hold his office until the first day of January, eighteen hundred and ninety-nine, and until his successor shall be appointed and quali- fied; and on the first day of January, eighteen hundred and ninety- nine, and biennially thereafter, or within ten (10) days after said respective dates, the Governor shall appoint his successor. The Chief Inspector shall receive an annual salary of twenty-five hundred (2, 500) dollars, to be paid out of the State Treasury in the same manner as State officials are paid.
