MAXWELL'S FORMULiB IN ELLIPTIC INTEGRALS.
Some of the formulae available give the mutual inductance of two coaxial coils directly in terms of the dimensions of the coils, while others derive it from the mutual inductance of two coaxial circles, either by giving the correction to be applied to the latter, or by employing in the formula for the latter a modified radius, or by combining several values for circles in such a way as to give (approx- imately) the value for coils of appreciable cross section.
