All employees of the Library and Branches except the Librarian, the Associate Librarian, the Curators of the Museum and Art Gallery, the Book- menders, the Evening and Sunday Curators of reading rooms, attendants of the County branches. Janitors and Messengers of the City branches, and the 6 Curators of Deposit stations, shall hereafter be chosen from graduates of Library schools or from those who have had successful library experience, or from eligible lists provided by the holding of exami...nations. Such examina- tions shall be authorized in each case by the Board and shall be conducted: (a) For Desk Attendants, including those in the Children's Department and the Branches, by the Chairman of the Book Committee and the Librarian.
(b) For Janitors, by the Chairman of the Building Committee and the Librarian.
(c) For Museum and Art Gallery employees by the Chairman of the Museum and Art Committee and the Curator of the Museum or Art Gallery.
The employees excepted from examination in this article, except the first four, shall be appointed by the Librarian, subject to approval by the Board.
