With a loud shout and what sounded suspiciously like a curse, Isabella and Emma hurtled past her.
“Slowly, girls,” Adeliza said automatically, not even expecting her words to be heeded i...n the slightest. “Please be careful.”
Isabella shouted something back at her mother, but the exact words never quite reached Adeliza. The two girls continued running, and pushing open the door, almost fled into the sunshine.
Adeliza sighed, but she could not help but smile. It was always a cause of wonder to her that such girls should have come from her. They were so wild, so untameable. Everything was at its extreme for them – it was either the worst day ever, or the best that anyone had ever had.
