There will grow up feelings of hatred in the bosom of the toiling many against the affluent few. There will justly seem to their minds something wrong in an arrangement which compels them to create wealth for the ease and indulgence of others, while they themselves are starving or suffering.
There is, then, a law of proportion between capital and labor, which ought sacredly to be respected, and cannot be violated with safety, nor with impunity.
