Dr. John, his son, was a splendid fellow. I used to meet him when I was practicing law in Wheeling with my brother and attended court in Wellsburg. He seemed to take great delight in talking about our ancestors and wrote me very feelingly just before his death, as to incidents related in "Bonnie Belmont. " His brother, James Cooper, still resides near Wellsburg on a farm.
