... handsome small bushy shrub, much branched, the branches ascending, rather short and slender, clo- thed with a rough hairy pubescence. Leaves petiolate, broadly ovate, scarcely acute, the points more or less twisted, underneath rugose and reticulately veined, clo- thed with a short thin hoary canescence, and short hairs intermixed. Petioles dilated at the base and clasping the stem, somewhat winged, more or less tinged with red, and channelled on the upper side. Flowers of a lively red, middle sized or smallish, produced in nume- rous many-flowered cymes.
