"A body corporate shall be capable of acquiring and holding any real or personal property in joint tenancy in the same manner as if it were an individual." A corporation and an individual, or two or more corporations, can now hold property as joint tenants ^ Certain disabilities were formerly attached to aliens and attainted persons. Before the Naturalisation Act, 1870^ (which was not retrospective) an alien holding as joint tenant with another person was subject to the right of the Crown to seize the alien's moiety upon office founds A joint tenant convicted of treason or felony would have forfeited his moiety to the Crown at common law ; statutes have now abolished such for- feiture ^ (6) "Joyntenants must come in by one title^" — that is to say, by one and the same instrument or act.
