COLONIAL RECORDS. 221 At a Meeting of the President and Assistants for the Colony of Georgia on Friday the second Day of Sep- tember in the Year of our Lord 1748 Present WiUiam Stephens President Henry Parker "j William Spencer > Assistants Patrick Graham M' Newdigate Stephens petitioned this Board Setting forth that he has been upwards of six Years in this Colony and hath as yet obtained no Lands ; And having no View of succeeding to his Fathers Lands it being entailed upon an Elder Brother He therefore humbly hopes that this Board will grant him five hun- dred Acres of Land situated on Little Ogeechee Marshes We taking the Same into Consideration and knowing the Allegations of his Petition to be true Therefore recommend him to the Trus- tees as a sober industrious young Man and well deserving of Favours, and do allow him to possess a Tract of five hundred Acres of Land the next Vacant to the Westward of M' William Eradleys.
