The sturdy virtue of the native stock he sprang from will long be remembered in New England; alone of its scions, though, he chanced to prove its virtue before the eyes of the whole English-speaking world. The window which com memorates him at Westminster Abbey is a tribute not to his kinsmen or to his countrymen but to him, as he faithfully em bodied kinsmen, and countrymen and kinship a little more than kin even though less than kind.
