The manifestations, therefore, of secondary and of tertiary s)rphilis differ very much, but it was the great service of Virchow to show that the pathologic processes in the lesions themselves are essentially the same throughout the entire course of the disease.
THE FIRST INCUBATION PERIOD OF SYPHILIS The first event in the course of syphilis is the inoculation of Spiro- chaetae pallidae into the skin.
