Henry Stever attended school in Cass town- ship, after which he worked with his father on the farm, until his enlistment for the de- fence of his country in 1863. In June of that year he became a member of Company A, HUNTINGDON, MIFFLIN, JUNIATA AND PERRY COUNTIES. 255 Twenty-second PennsylTauia Cavalry, at Mount Union, serving nnder Major B. M. Morrow and Capt. J. D. Fee. He spent eight months in the service at this time, not going into battle, bnt on detail duty, and was dis- charged February 14, lS(i4.
