" The non-commissioned officer most probably replies, " You must not grumble, young man ; we must have no grumbling. " If he holds his tongue and suffers all gently, or if he imitates the other men, and bullies and swears at them, he may have easier trials ; but if he reports them, tells his superior what his comrades have done, woe be to the life of young John Raw !
