His wife Margaret was the daughter and co-heiress of Owen ap Grifiith of Gorddwr in Melienydd, a des- cendant of Elystan Glodrudd, by Blanche, daughter of Watkin Vaughan of Hergest, or Herast, whose an- cestry bore the armorial insignia emblazoned on the shields under line C.

Impaling', Ve7't, a chevrou between three wolf's heads, erased m'gent; for Ririd Flaidd, Lord of Penllyn.
The date, 1577, is doubtless that of the year when the Vaughan armorial canopy was set up over the family pew in the church of Llanfihangel, of wdiich the following description by the rector, the Bev.
