47. Samuel Twitchell was lyieutenant in Capt. John Mel- len's company which went to reinforce the army at Ticonderoga, June-July, 1777. He was captain of a company for the Rhode Island campaign, Aug. 1778. He died in Dublin, April 16, 1820. He held higher rank than any other man who served for Dublin in the Revolutionary War.
