" Governor Winthrop, under date of March 27, 1642, ^ gives this account of it : — '" Mr. William Aspenwall who had been banished as is before declared, for joining with Mr. Wheelwright, being licensed by the general court to come and tender his submission &c was this day reconciled, to the church of Boston. He made a very free and full acknowledgment of his errour and seducement and that with much detestation of his sin. The like he did after, before the magistrates, who were appointed by the court to take his submission, and upon their certificate thereof at the next general court his sentence of banishment was released.
