The method of instruction has been from the beginning the catecheti- cal, which keeps the teacher and the pupil in unbroken relation to one another, and enables the latter to have at every moment a correct judg- ment as to the work of the pupil, and thus to concentrate the work of the instruction upon the real work of teaching, and not upon the mere preparation for the final examination.
