1330. John db Balltconinoham, incumbent, or possibly a native, of Balliconyngham in the diocese of Down, who had been elected Bishop of that see by the Dean and Chapter, and confirmed by the King on August 21, 1328, was displaced by the Pope ; who, however, appointed him to the see of Cork in 1330. Having sat here about seventeen years, during which time he had done good service by keeping the public peace, he died on May 29, 1347.

...pe), descended from a noble family in this county, and a Canon (probably Dean) of Cork, was elected Bishop by the Chapter ; and was con- secrated about Christmas. He died on July 4, 1358.
1359. Gerald de Barry, of a noble and ancient family (probably Dean of Cork), was raised to the see in 1359.
In 1381 he stated to the Lord Justice and Council, that he was above eighty years old, and often visited by sick- ness, so that he desired to be excused from personal at- tendance in Parliament. The King granted his request, upon his paying a (ine of two marks, and sending a suf- ficient proxy.
