METHODS OF FEEDING Since the stomach of a horse is a comparatively small organ, the average size being only 3^2 gallons while that of a cow, of which there are four compartments, has a capacity of 55 to 60 gallons, it will readily be seen that the horse is poorly adapted to consuming relatively large quantities of coarse feeds.
