313 (107). The most interesting feature of the octahedrite from this locality is however the occurrence of twin crystals, twiiming plane (101). The twins are drawn out parallel to an edge of the unit pyramid so as to form slender needles which are either attached at one end or lie prone on the quartz. In the latter case both ends are seen to be similarly ter- minated by reentrant angles and study of the striations on the pyramid faces showed that the two individuals were interpenetrating whi...le in contact along a face of 101. These relations are shown in figure 2. The twinning is ex- tremely rare, only six twin groups having been observed among the many thousands of octahedrite crystals present on the specimens in hand. That it is truly twinning however and not an accidental growth of two crystals in contact is shown both by the peculiar and constant habit of the groups and by the following angles measured on one of the extremely minute groups.
