On that same Saturday, March 31, he was directed to arrange for a battalion of infantry and a battery to be at Leeuwberg Kopje, eight miles from Bloemfontein, at daybreak of April 1.
Three companies of the Northumberland Fusi- liers and five companies of the Royal Scots were accordingly sent.
