People spoke of communities all the time: at preschool drop-offs, on a poster about the adopt-a-hive drive at the entrance to the farmers’ market, in a local campaign to increase the number of chickens a family could keep in their backyard, in group emails calling for gatherings to support the Occupy Movement or to protest it.
