82. WHITE LEKYTHOI color (Case F). The Case F solid color washes are generally confined to one or two shades, preferably red and black. Charon stands expect- antly at the prow of his boat, ready to ferry the little newcomer across to the abode of the dead.
It is noteworthy that in these repre- sentations dealing more or less directly with death, there is a quiet restraint in expressing grief for the departed.
