L. W. Cutler was born December 12, 1807, in the house now owned by Dr. W. S. Munger. He was the youngest son of Younglove and Anna Woodward Cutler. He entered Yale College in 1826, was elected Representative from Watertown for five terms, was State Senator in 1845 and 1856 and State Comptroller during the Civil War.
He was Judge of Probate for twenty-four years and retired at seventy years, the age limit. He was Town Clerk thirty-nine years and Town Treasurer ten years and County Commissioner s
...ix years. He was one of the oldest members of Federal Lodge and was Treasurer for many years. He was an honored and beloved citizen.
Physicians.
THE first physician in Watertown was Dr. John Warner, who was born in Watertown and re- moved to Stratford, returning to Watertown in 1724. He built a house across the way from Ebenezer Richard's home, better known as the Esquire John Buckingham place in Oakville. Others have been as follows: Thomas Foot, Benjamin Hull, James Elton, John Elton, and Samuel Elton.
