He graduated at Harvard College in 1758 ; was long teacher of the Grammar School, of which he became feoffee, and to which he bequeathed six new rights of land ; often held offices in the town ; was on the Committee of Correspondence and Inspection in the Revolution ; kept the Post-office ; was nearly forty years Register of Probate for Essex county ; Representative to the Provincial Congress in 1774, 1775, and to the General Court in 1775.
