The agencies of this revival proved to be the canals and the common school system, both of which, by a singular coincidence, can trace their birth to the same General Assembly, and in fact to the same day and hour. Their wonder- ful and far-reaching influence in developing the intellectual and material resources of Ohio, forms one of the most interesting subjects in our civil history.
