H. Stribling and Rev. C. D. Campbell, one dying on the nth of August and the other on the 13th. Doctor Stribling was a representative of the generation next succeeding that of the pioneer ministers of the state. He was one of the connecting links between the two distinct periods of denominational history. When he died he was within one month of his seventieth birthday, and for full forty years had preached in Texas, honored and beloved by his brethren. He had passed through the tribulations fro...m the beginning, and had been an ardent KETEOSPECTIVE AND PROSPECTIVE 349 sharer in the development of the denomination in the state. He was honored many times by the convention as a vice president, was pastor of some of the most important pas- torates in the state, and at the time of his death was the pastor at Rockdale. He was a man of spotless life and a preacher of commanding influence. He died at Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Rev. C. D. Campbell was a native of Georgia and the son of Rev. J. H.
