Having got safely over, I rode on to Hnausar, the abode of Sira Jon Jonson, who immedialely changed his clothes^ and saddhng his horse, accompanied me in order to guide me across the Kudafliot, the broadest river in Icdand.* By the way, our conversation naturally turned upon the situa- tion of his parishioners with respect to the Scriptures ; and I learned, with concern, that though his parish contains a population of more than S50 souls, not more than six fiuni- lies are in possession of a Bible.
