Nell'atto terzo Ezzehno e Alberico si narrano le imprese vittoriose compiute e quelle che hanno in animo di compiere. Intanto vien la notizia che è stato decapitato un ribelle. Entra quindi un frate, che parla di Dio al tiranno. Il quale risponde che, se questo Dio gli permette di com- piere tante scelleratezze, vuol dire che lo lascia nel mondo per fare le sue vendette. Viene un'altra notizia. Padova è stata presa da fuo- rusciti padovani e ferraresi, aiutati dai Veneziani. Ezzelino, infuriato..., fa taghare un piede al nunzio. Arriva Ansedisio, a cui la città era stata male affidata, ed Ezzelino gh promette la morte come pena della sua codardia. Nell'atto quarto Ezzelino predice la caduta di Padova. Nella seconda scena entra un nunzio a raccontare alcune cattive azioni e la morte di Ezzehno. Il coro ringrazia Dio, che la terra è hberata da quel mostro. Nell'atto quinto un nunzio parla della fine del fratello di Ezze- lino, Alberico, che è stato fatto morire insieme ai figli, fra atroci tormenti.
