Mix 75 grammes potassium fluorsilicate, 100 grammes granulated zinc, and 20 grammes sodium in small pieces. Throw the mixture into a red-hot crucible, and cover immediately. Put the mixture into a small, flat, iron dish (sand-bath), pour upon it a 44 INORGANIC CHEMICAL PREPARATIONS coating of dry magnesium oxide, and cover with an iron plate or asbestos board.
