The Koran, indeed, teaches that there are differing degrees of happiness in heaven, and the reward of the most favoured seems associated with the beatific vision.^ We read that there, among the believers, " there shall be no vain discourse, " and "no incitement to wickedness, "^ expressions which would imply a state of at least passive goodness.
