In addition to serving on several boards of the Memoirs 328 SC Annual Conference, he served on the General Board of Church and Society, which is concerned with social justice issues. Most recently he served as president of the General Commission on Religion and Race, which is concerned with racial inclusiveness within the life of the church and the world at large.
