For that last reason thematerial made available for consideration by Mr Chippindale deservessome examination. An example concerns the change made to the final stageof the computer flight track to the Antarctic which the Commissionerregarded as a central reason for the accident. During a period offourteen months prior to the fatal flight Air New Zealand's groundcomputer had contained an incorrect geographical reference to thesouthern waypoint of the journey at McMurdo.
