...e town of Avoca, August 27, 1853, son of Erastus Olmsted, who was born in the town of Avoca, March 6, 1830, and grandson of John Olmsted, who was born in Montgomery county and settled in this town where he bought land and cleared a farm of 100 acres. October 27, 1852, Erastus married Margaret, daughter of William P. Bellenger, of Montgomery county, who was' among the first settlers of this county. They have one son, John E. , who was educated in the town of Avoca. He was in the mercantile and produce business from 1876 to 1888 in the village of Wallace, since which time he has devoted his time to farming and to the sale of agricultural implements.
