Come, holy Peace ! begin thy glorious reign ; Banish the battle's tumult, strife and pain : Come, spirit blest, Gather mankind beneath thy wings again, And give us rest.
THE DYING SOLDIER.
The day was done, the fatal field was fought ; Upon the ground a thousand manly hearts Lay still and cold, ambition's sacrifice.
