We were followed by a crowd of panic-stricken people, and as to a terror smitten mind the suggestion of another is always better than its own, they pressed upon us so closely as to impel us onwards on the road. When we got a convenient distance from the buildings we stood still in the midst of a most dangerous and fearful scene.
