What pains and perplexes me more than anything is the fact that Liberals should uphold such action. I can understand their attitude with regard to the origin of the war. Although in my humble opinion they are wrong, it is all a question of fact ; but surely they must condemn the conduct of a man whose only motive seems to be to render every endeavour to effect a peaceful arrangement abortive. It is all very well for millionaires like Mr. Perks to instigate the Government to prosecute this war to the bitter end.
