What reading level is Light Photometry And Illumination a Thoroughly Rev Ed of Electrical Illumin book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

(2) Absorbing medium offers a very satisfactory and practical means of decreasing the illumination intensity if it be free from 80 LIGHT, PHOTOMETRY AND ILLUMINATION selective absorption. It may be used in connection with the variations of distances and in this way increase the range of the apparatus. It may be placed between the screen and the test lamp if large candle-power values are involved, or between the screen and the standard lamp if low illumination intensity on the screen is desired
...or if the standard is of too high candle-power. In this case the equation mentioned above involves another constant which will be the transmission coefficient of the absorb- ing media. If the photometer scale is graduated proportional to the square of the distances, equation 31 will become I x = Kr/k' = K'r (32) if the absorbing medium is between the test lamp and the screen, and I x = k'Kr = K"r (33) if the absorbing material is between the standard lamp and the screen; k' being the transmission coefficient of the absorbing material.
