Curtains from above were arranged to come down between the differenttiers of the priesthood, but so arranged that while those of one degreemight shut themselves away from the audience "for consultation, " theycould not hide themselves from their superiors in ecclesiastical rank. Strings and nails in the ceiling are the only remnants of theseremarkable partitions.
