How sweet when moonlight slept upon its walls, To sit beneath its ivy'd porch, and hear The waters in soft flowing madrigals, Fall in the tangled glen distinct and clear ; When fancy, like a spirit hovering near, — Burst the grave's cerements, and boldly flew To days long past, when buckler, helm, and spear, Rang out a war song, with the bold halloo Of horsemen gathering near, that loud their shrill horns blew !
