Their land hunger was proverbial.
A laird of Cultoquhey, near Crieff, who had had experience of the Campbells and some other clans whose lands bordered with his, was constrained to add a litany of his own to the pre- scribed form — 66 GUIDE TO OBAN WALKS.
" Froe the preed o' the Campbells, Frae the ire o° the DrummondB, Frae the pride o' the" Grahams, And frae the wind o' the Murrayi, Guid Lord, deliver us." Charters are extant which confirm Campbell of Loch Awe as its possessor in 1436.
