What reading level is Man Primeval Or the Constitution And Primitive Condition of the Human Being book?
To quickly assess the difficulty of the text, read a short excerpt:

His obligations are ever-increasing. How early they begin it is impossible to say. For though indicjitions of moral character are early discoverable, these indications presiq^pose the character itself, and leave us ignorant how much earlier it begins to come into existence. But however early it may be, it is evident, that as from that moment our moral relations go on increasing without intermission, our obligations go on increas- ing in precisely the same ratio. Every day finds us entirely depe...ndent upon God, and adds to pre-existing obligations new ties arising from the new favors of the day. Every day brings with it additional op})ortunities of knowing and serving God, and the corresponding obligation to improve them. And the effect of this improvement of them would be, that e%ei-y dny would leave us, as progressive beings, with an increased capacity for virtue, and consequently under a greater obhgation to virtue. How palpable, then, is the error wliich teaches, in effect, that incapacity for faith or obedience, even when j)roduced by a man's own })revious acts and habits, diminishes the obligation to faith and obedience ; whereas, on the contrary, every n)an is bound to be always prepared to meet every Divine requirement with all that capacity for obedience which he woidd have pos- sessed had his capacity at each preceding moment been the ever-enbirging result of constant improvement to the utmost.
